More than 2,000 years ago, the ancient Egyptians used a type of reed called papyrus to make paper, which became known as papyrus, and today it has survived in the English language under the name of paper. The way of making papyrus was that the stems of the papyrus plant were cut in the form of narrow strips and they were put together like tangled threads of fabric and finally dried in the sun.

1500 years ago, Chinese workers were among the first to teach this method to the people of Samarkand using linen and hemp, and then it became a common method by Muslims in Damascus, Baghdad, Morocco, and Spain. Finally, for the first time in 1313 A.H., the first cardboard factory was set up in Karaj, which produced cardboard using waste paper, and this led to the presence of paper in the paper industry in Iran.
